Wisconsin has reportedly settled on a new athletic director.
ESPN was the first to report that the Badgers were planning to hire Texas deputy athletic director and chief operating officer Shawn Eichorst as Chris McIntosh’s replacement.

Eichorst was the athletic director at Miami in 2011 and 2012 before taking over at Nebraska from 2012 to 2017. He was fired from the latter job, in part, because of a lack of success with the Cornhuskers football program. Eichorst has worked at Texas in various roles since 2018.
The 55-year-old Eichorst is a familiar name in Wisconsin as he grew up in Lone Rock and played football at UW-Whitewater. He went on to serve as Whitewater’s athletic director from 1999-2003 before joining South Carolina’s athletic department. Eichorst returned to Wisconsin in 2006 to work under athletic director Barry Alvarez, eventually as deputy AD and COO.
Eichorst replaces Chris McIntosh, who abruptly resigned in April to take a job with the Big Ten Conference.
